Come Fly With Me Butterfly Walk

Honeydale Farm, Shipton-under-Wychwood, Oxon, OX7 6BJ

FREE to BC and WFT members

This year, we are on a mission to address the surprising lack of butterfly records across the Wychwood. With generous funding from the Trust for Oxfordshire’s Environment and the Thames Valley Environmental Records Centre, we are working in partnership with Butterfly Conservation to recruit and train volunteer butterfly recorders.

On Thursday 14th July, we will be running a butterfly walk at Honeydale Farm, the FarmEd regenerative farming demonstration site near Shipton-under-Wychwood. Meeting at 10.30 am, the event will include a tour of the farm and a demonstration of how to use the iRecord Butterflies smartphone app. There is ample parking and toilets on site at Honeydale, and a café for tea and coffee, but do bring a packed lunch if required.

It's back!

The annual extravaganza that is the Wychwood Forest Fair is taking place at Foxburrow Wood in July. From wood carving, axe throwing, and traditional archery, to pony rides, storytelling and falconry - there's something for everyone! There will also be the usual offering of great food, local beer, live music, and a wide variety of rural craft displays. It’s a really fun, family-friendly way to enjoy a summer Sunday while supporting your local conservation charity.

The Forest Fair celebrates and supports the essential work we are doing to create spaces for nature and preserve the unique cultural heritage of the Wychwood. Come and see us in the Wychwood tent, where you can learn more about recent projects and our exciting new nature reserve at Gibbets Close in Witney.
